Calamari yahni (braised in tomato sauce and onions). A different way to cook calamari for those of you who got bored of making it only with rice.

What we need:

  • 1.1 lbs calamari
  • 5-6 large dry onions
  • 1/ 2 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 3-0.14 oz ains of pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt

How to do it:

  1. Clean, wash the calamari and set them aside.
  2. Peel the onions, cut in half and then into slices.
  3. Place them in a frying pot with a little bit of water and let them steam and get tender.
  4. Using the pot that you will boil the food in, heat the oil, add the calamari and lightly sauté over medium heat.
  5. Add the onions that you have already steamed, the pepper, the bay leaf, the tomato sauce and the salt.
  6. If necessary, add very little water.
  7. Cook over low heat, well covered and when the calamari gets tender, the food is ready.

Additional tips

It s more tasty if you use fresh calamari.

You can also make it using squid instead of calamari.
